Hello My Name Is...
I took an interest in Child Development while in college, and I especially enjoy working with preschoolers. The foundations that we can teach preschoolers make it that much more exciting. Working with preschoolers with special needs provides an even greater opportunity as we walk alongside them and provide them with strategies to overcome many of their obstacles. I find it most rewarding. I graduated my first time in college with a B.S. in Home Economics with an emphasis in Child Development. Later I returned to get my certification to teach Early Childhood. I interviewed for a teaching position that I thought was in my field, and did not find out that it was not until I had accepted the position. I was hired as a provisional teacher since I was not certified in Special Education. Thinking that it was going to be a one year position as far as I was concerned, as I walked into the classroom on that first day, I knew that I was “at home”. That steered me to college for the third and final time, and I was finally prepared to do what I had been called to do.
